Delicious Apple Pie Recipes for diabetics and other

Autumn is around the corner and that means lots of apples just begging to be turned into pies. This fall also offers our U.S. presidential elections and what is more American than apple pie? Here are a couple of recipes for tasty apple pie that are ideal for diabetics and for all. Try it and enjoy a delicious piece of apple pie today.

Classic Old-Fashioned Apple Pie

6 cups thinly sliced, peeled tart cooking apples

1 tablespoon lemon juiceJuice

1 cup Splenda Granular

2 tablespoons flour

1 / 4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 / 4 teaspoon nutmeg

1 teaspoon butter or margarine

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Cut the apples in a large bowl and season with lemon juice. Sugar, flour, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and apples, mix well. Mix apples again with a large spoon turn into pastry lined pie pan then. Place apple slices on bottom of pastry. Pour the juice of the apple slices evenly. Dot with butter. Top with pastry. Trim, seal edges and flute. Cut a slit in the middle of the crust to vent during baking. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes. Pastry for double crust 9-inch pie:

2 cups flour smoothed

1 teaspoon salt

2 / 3 cup lard or solid vegetable shortening

5-7 tablespoons ice water

In a large bowl, stir together the flour and salt until blended. With a pastry blender or two knives, cut shortening or lard into flour mixture until the doughis chalky.
